What is Amber?? , and why it is so valuable??

Amber is the fossilized resin of 50 million year old conifer trees, usually pines. The most sought-after amber comes from the Baltic region and is golden and translucent. Less common is white or so called Royal amber, the yellow baltic kind of amber called butterscotch amber , if it's yellow but transparent some times it called honey amber and some times cognac, and there is other type of amber which it is black in color but in light it have these colors blue, violet, green,it called Dominican amber .

**Dominican amber differentiates itself from Baltic amber by being nearly always transparent, and it has a higher number of fossil inclusions. This has enabled the detailed reconstruction of the ecosystem of a long-vanished tropical for

Also like gemstones, the amber is prized for its clarity and transparency. But the inclusions in amber are often the most interesting things about the material. Because amber began as a liquid, all sorts of things got stuck in it, from lichen and pine needles to insects and even reptiles. The book and subsequent film “Jurassic Park” were based on the premise that dinosaur blood could be extracted from a mosquito preserved in amber.

**there is a red amber , but it is not (cherry amber) the red color of amber is usually baltic amber (royal or yellow ) it happens when it is old enough or under natural temperature for along time , the yellow color begin to turn red , but when it abrasion you will see the true color which almost are yellow and if abrasion deeper it you will see the white.

Copal is not Amber. Copal is the immature resin of a tree, being only a few hundred years old to a several thousand years old. Amber is the mature fossilized resin of an extinct tree and is millions of years old. Copal is plentiful, real Amber is not.

So why does amber is valuable ?

will the answer is in it history it is 50 million years old and that it is a natural material after all. and it can be used for health benefits

Health benefits of amber were known for thousand of years and people believed that it can help to treat many different medical conditions. Due to this many people today are wondering whether there is any truth to this claim or is it just a myth. Jewelry made of Amber are thought to work effectively for minimizing pain in neck, head and throat areas. Bracelets made from this natural resin are worn mostly because they are believed to lessen pain of Arthritis, Rheumatism as well as joints. In addition to that it is also thought that wearing Amber jewelry can help to minimize anxiety and overcome fatigue.

Some people also wear Amber necklace since they believe that it can help to enhance function of thyroid. If you are picking a necklace for this particular purpose it might be a good idea to choose shorter necklace, which would as close to thyroid as possible.

To ensure that you are getting maximum health benefits from your jewelry it is important to make sure that beads or stones in it are made from genuine Baltic Amber. This is important because other types of Amber doesn’t have that much Succinic Acid in it. Amber that comes from Baltic Sea is known to contain as much as 3-8% of this acid by weight. When wearing Amber jewelry it is also essential to make sure that it is in contact with some part of your body. This is important because Amber is able to release Succinic Acid only when it is warm from the contact of skin. So basically the longer you will wear amber jewelry the more health benefits you can expect from it.

The highest values go to those pieces with clearly visible insect inclusions, light colors, and clarity. Since the movie, Jurassic Park, the most popular inclusions are mosquitos. Inclusions of plant material, while of great interest to scientists, add little to the value of jewelry. (These inclusions are often too small to be recognized easily). Very large amber pieces are extremely rare.
